How To Look Likemeagan Good

Restaurant" by Thomas ", for true connoisseurs

Marco Valeriani

The restaurant overlooks the waterfront. Rimini from here is even more beautiful, especially if you look after a storm almost summer. The Restaurant "by Thomas" is at number 15 of the great ribbon of asphalt known by all as Lungomare Di Vittorio. In terms of furniture is not at all pretentious. It 'absolutely functional, comfortable enough. We try it on a Thursday night. The scents greet you from the kitchen entrance. There is no need to wait long to be accompanied at the table. Fast, efficient. The service is fun, bubbly. Omar is moving among people with the savoir faire of the manager aware. Behind the kitchen is rather Massimiliano. He knows his stuff and feels! Pleasant Pignoletto Sandoni 2009. Excellent small sardines and red mullet tasted along with the fornarina (amazing, it would be worth only eat one). The cuttlefish with peas is a great level: soul the taste, makes them happy before the arrival of a good risotto gelato. The grains are well separated, cooked right, the portions very generous. Those who call in Romagna "peoci, black mussels, mussels, have" flesh pulpy. Valid even clams. Convince even the cinnamon, baskets and mini-bruschetta with tomato and shrimp. We skip the fried deliberately and proposals for grilled fish. The full retail coffee sorbet an appointment for true connoisseurs. to be missed, never alone.

Metro 2033 - Review

Dimitri Glukhovsky bravely published his first work on the Metro 2033 web: the origins of this country I have not known but is likely to be met with little approval from the homes Publishing and perhaps with the inability to pay an agent. Thus, his finished novel is fed to the Internet, which has devoured by returning an unexpected taste of success.
Brought to you by this part of the world only after the realization of a video game inspired by its pages by THQ, I finished the book in his hands about a month ago, sparked my interest, thanks to a storyline certainly not original but very charming.
year, of course, is Title: Following World War III inevitable nuclear holocaust and the population is now reduced by more than two decades to live underground. While the remnants of mankind strip between the tunnels first used as a basis for public transport, there is little news coming from the surface: the only certainty is that there happens something very strange. The animals are not extinct, but the massive doses of radiation they have changed and the desperate need to feed them reported at an early stage. But the beasts are not the only people in what remains of the land: an anthropomorphic unidentified species, possibly humans "evolved" to resist the radiation and the air stifling, thrives on the surface at regular intervals and attempt to invade the subsurface using all access available. The Dark Ones, so the man nicknamed, are a terrible threat. Not that things are much better under the ground: the huge Metro of Moscow (now the busiest in the world) is home to what remains of the Russian people and a new civilization is being formed. The stations were quickly transformed into independent states, poised between the total anarchy laws and improvised a new economy was born, based on the most valuable items available, namely the Kalashnikov cartridges, and the scarcity of resources forces everyone to a sluggish supply based on mushroom cultivation and breeding pigs. The interesting socio-political scenario is described with great clarity by the author, who spares no digressions bodied (often in the form of dialogue) to describe in detail the contradictions of the new Russian society. Which, incidentally, study after study seems to resemble more and more like the current one, and fanatics of the former communist bloc, including neo-fascists. In this chaos on the brink of self- Artyom the young protagonist is living a normal life after all, taking part in the shifts as a farmer, rancher or a border guard at the station known as VDNKh. This peaceful routine is suddenly interrupted by the encounter with a stalker named Hunter: the latter belongs to a paramilitary organization that deals with brave the dangers of the area to bring back as many resources and information possible. Soon convinced that the Dark Ones launched a final attack to kill the remnants of the human race, before returning to his wanderings in the hands of Artyom Hunter leaves a core mission, from which it may depend on the future of humanity. Thus begins an adventure "On the Road" with the protagonist goes on the road towards the station's legendary Polis, seemingly unreachable because of fighting between various factions. Artyom's journey will not only experience the search for truth about the Dark Ones, but above all an educational experience that will lead the young to think about fate, about what it means to be human, sense (or not) to delay an existence made of hardship, hope to return one day to the surface. On his way between the expected meetings with their different shapes, including essays, dishonest merchants, political activists, religious fanatics and rebels, each with its own point of view, each with its own explanation for the fate that apparently sensible humanity has been chosen. Between the pages of Glukhovsky there is also room for some 'action and some thrills, but the true stars are the stages of dialogue with the fascinating supporting cast and the long reflections of the protagonist on the absurdity of the human condition. A novel slow, which manages to be read with ease perilous and can boast the luxury of a final means a foregone conclusion. An interesting point of view on humanity, a return to science fiction classic, that makes imaginative use of its power to evoke thoughts of all present. Not without flaws, all the inclination to repeat some clichés in the interweaving and a tendency to confuse the reader because of structure ipetrofica, Metro 2033 is a book to read because of its apparent origin from a different culture from ours, capable of generating a universe both alien and familiar. The result, Metro 2034, has already been translated into German and English and will soon see the light even in English. Personally, I can not wait to re-immerse in the tunnels of Moscow.

Alan Wake - Review

to review the past year or so after a few games, first as a hobby and by profession, one can say they saw him (almost) all. Certain patterns recur relentlessly, certain securities drag Fun negligible without a minimum of taste nor criterion. Yet, what should a video game? Should be fun, to entertain, to take you somewhere else to do what you can not do at home.
Whether massacre the evil aliens or invest the old ladies who go shopping. E 'treatment (Catharsis is a term that frightens me, makes me think of cough and grammar school) for some time to forget how Pallosa life everyday. I can think of a thousand titles out so well lately, from Dante's Inferno in Dead to Rights, awarded (rightfully so) for what they do, or turn off your brain and have fun. There is another way, one wonders? You can do the game something different, better, more intelligent, stimulating the imagination, make me want to get to read or retrieve some old movie or TV series, short, something more than just sparacchiare at all? Yes there is. Only it's difficult, very difficult. Because the market does not want the boring stuff: the market wants the bad aliens, big boobs and guns that do the Job. And I do not pull out, because sometimes we want them all, without exception, and deny the fun attached to them is simply ridiculous. But not ALWAYS and ONLY aliens, boobs and guns. There may be other. Sometimes, there's more. Alan Wake is a video game half: half the monsters you shoot bad guys, you run, it is blasphemy because it is wrong to jump and touch the load level. But the other half is quite different: there is a supernatural horror story, decent, maybe not beautiful but supported by people who leave something in their path. There is a well balanced sense of humor, which really does not overdo it at times laugh. There is the unmistakable style of a monologue writer fanatic, and in a story where the protagonist is a writer has really found the proverbial "death itself". Is there a setting that remains in my heart, so realistic to give the impression in the memory of seeing it for real. There quell'ammiccante gigione and structure from TV series like that, it's trendy and it works perfectly in context. In short, perhaps as a real game is not perfect, the fights are not memorable and the stages are just driving sucks, but the narrative structure and characterization are right in the heart of this reflection. Alan Wake is an attempt to give the game something more: a real script, the three-dimensional characters, not only to behold, a character, atmosphere. If during this time you feel like boobs and aliens, left to lose. But if, like me, you're in a period when Gears of War it can not be more, get carried away by this small and brave attempt to bring the game into new directions, to vary a bit 'the recipe to give it that wonderful feature that for now the cinema and literature stand out: to offer them a bit' to suit all tastes, from trash to the product a bit crap 'most dense in ideas.

Genesis Code (Book of Eli) - Review

not that Book of Eli (Genesis Code to call him just can not do that ... but the translators have in my head?) Is a bad movie. Maybe a little '. The problem as always is in intent: to make an action movie background Fallout (ultraviolence attached) or do a sermon on post-atomic background?
If the first few minutes thanks to the fascinating scenery (sometimes plastic but nevertheless inspired) and Denzel Washington in good shape, the rest of the course shows you do not know which side to take. The Catholic moral wavers between being aware that the Book object of many disputes is actually a powerful weapon and the will to pass it so tenaciously defended by the protagonist. The dialogues are a bit 'up and down, including some gorgeous monologue by Gary Oldman and other boorish total trade (especially between Eli and co-star). The final scene is shot, striking and might work if it were not for a timing completely wrong to frustrate the ends of surprise. Even the fighting, in all their "stylish" end to be fake and not very credible. The film does however look to the end without getting bored, and not cheap. On the other hand leaves dissatisfied, at the mercy of a conclusion that solves nothing and everything, with the book in the hands of a group whose only mentioned "good intentions" are not sufficiently explained, nor even introduced a posteriori.
Nine years by the excellent "The true story of Jack the Ripper" the Hughes Brothers reappear a little 'foggy, unable to get the most out of the cast and shooting action scenes convincing. A sin with the available material, good cast and some ideas a little 'clearer you could do much better.
